The Sunday Concert is the grand old dame of Hart House. On January 18, 2004 the series celebrated its 81st birthday and its 600th concert!
From its humble beginnings in 1922, the Sunday Concert series has grown to be one of the most prestigious concert series this city has to offer. Steeped in classical roots, the series is also breaking ground with diverse musical programming such as gospel, worldbeat and cabaret. Make our Sunday Concerts part of your Sunday tradition!
Sunday Concerts are offered free to the public one Sunday per month (from October to April) at 3:00PM in the majesty of the Great Hall.


February 28, 2010 - 3:00 PM - The Great Hall - Caroline Leonardelli and Julie Nesrallah - The combination of voice and harp has enchanted audiences for centuries. Sunday Concerts presents harpist Caroline Leonardelli and mezzo-soprano Julie Nesrallah in a mixed program of voice and harp works by Reynaldo Hahn, Debussy, Bizet, Tournier, and Chaminade, and solo harp pieces from Caroline's latest CD El Dorado. Born in France, Caroline studied in her youth with Lily Laskine, one of the most celebrated harpist of the 20th century. She is Principal Harpist with the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra symphonique de Gatineau and has performed with orchestras throughout Canada. Miss Nesrallah is an extremely versatile singer and actress who dazzles audiences with her rich tone, engaging personality and deeply expressive communicative skills. She performs principal roles with leading opera companies, orchestras and renowned ensembles across North America and abroad.

April 11, 2010 - 3:00 PM - The Great Hall - Mauro Bertoli - Italian pianist Mauro Bertoli presents an elegant program of classical masterpieces by Beethoven, Schumann, Brahms, and Liszt. Mauro Bertoli has established himself on the international stage and was praised by the press for his formidable technique and his exceptional sensitivity. He has performed for important festivals and in major concert halls (Theatre “La Fenice” in Venice, Auditorium “S.Cecilia” in Rome, Verdi Hall in Milan, Beijing Concert Hall...) throughout Europe, Israel, China and North America. Having received his musical education at the Academy of Music “G. Verdi” in Milan, at the Academy “S. Cecilia” in Rome, at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, and at the Ecole Normale de Musique “A. Cortot” in Paris, Mauro won the “Giuseppe Sinopoli Award 2006”, the most prestigious Italian prize awarded personally by Giorgio Napolitano, the President of the Italian Republic. He is an Associate Performance Faculty Member at Carleton University in Ottawa.
